Madelon van Vredendaal is a 21-year-old photography student at Willem de Kooning Academy, deeply inspired by the concept of aesthetic justice—the idea that beauty can foster empathy, connection, and a sense of shared humanity. She believes art holds the power to shift focus beyond the ego, highlighting our interconnectedness and driving the pursuit of collective justice.
Through experimental and surrealist photographic methods, Madelon explores the unexpected and unseen that emergesduring the photographic process. Her work makes the invisible and overlooked visible, confronting denied topics within society. By challenging conventional beliefs about reality and truth, she invites viewers to question the constructs they often take for granted. For Madelon, truth is not absolute but a shared construct, and her photography serves as both a reflection and a reinterpretation of the world—both external and internal.
